GFS showing a consistant CV System

It has been showing developement of a CV warm-core on all runs for the past 24 hours. Each run appears to be progressively deeper. http://moe.met.fsu.edu/cgi-bin/gfstc2.cgi?time=2009062406&field=850mb+Vorticity&hour=Animation Genesis now at 72 hours. The interesting thing about this is that it has a significant anti-cyclone over the TC along its entire track. http://moe.met.fsu.edu/cgi-bin/gfstc2.cgi?time=2009062406&field=850-200mb+Shear&hour=Animation GFS has been doing very well in forecasting anti-cyclones so far this year. CMC and other models are not yet on-board.  |
