Fall arrives along Gulf Coast ....

The local meteorologist said that the summer temps had finally been broken and that fall was here in full as of last night.

Temps were in upper 50s this morning.  Mid to low 50s tomorrow morning.

Curiously, I can think of 1985 and 1995 when Mobile was affected by Fall hurricanes.  Hurricane Juan (only peripherally) drenched Mobile and caused the "cancellation" of Halloween on October 21, 1985.

In early October 1995, Opal roared ashore just east of Pensacola, and caused damage all the way to Mississippi, at one time, was a Cat 4 with winds to 150 mph.

Although, this year when fall arrived it felt cooler and drier, much like fall should feel when it "really" arrives.  I am quite doubtful that the Gulf coast will see a late season storm.  El Nino, though characterized as weak, has been as crushing in its effects as 1992 and 1997.
