All the rain we have gotten in the Northwest has brought tropical heat up with it. The little snow we had did not stick.
Night time lows have not even been low enough for ice on the car windows.
If it were not for the constant light rain I wouldn't bother with wearing a coat. A wind breaker will do. The winter so far seems like a dark version of Fall. It would be nice if the days were longer.
I still crack the window at night... I like cool fresh air and I aclimate well so long as it is not below freezing.
The moist air here may insure more snow for much of the nation. Just my hunch.
My guess is that the snow cover over much of the Northern half of the US may be constistant enough to keep it colder than usual for a few months. Snow reflects sunlight.
I wonder if there is a good satellite pic to show snow covered ground and to compare them with pics from past years.
