Re: The last scheduled night launch of a space shuttle

I might regret not taking the toll, not sure. But I think to be safe though I am going to leave early. Right now I am planning on leaving Tampa sometime between 10 and 11PM. Better to wait in the cold and see it than miss what might just be the last night launch ever. I have not been east of Orlando in almost 20 years, so I'm not sure what to expect of traffic. Depends when you would get there. I think I am going early enough I might not have a problem getting there.

I keep checking the latest updates here until I leave:

Says radio station WMMB, AM 1240 and AM 1350 has coverage, but not sure if they still do that and how early they might have updates. I am bringing a radio in addition to checking it on the way in the car in case it gets postponed.

In addition to radio, I'm also bringing water, a couple cameras, binoculars, watch, alarm clock (in case I take a nap), blankets to sit on, gloves, snow hat (will be wind chill around 40 and just along the water might be nippy), jacket, and flashlight. Printed out maps of the local streets and made note of where some parking might be.

My plan is to take I-4 and exit at exit 83A and get on state road 50. Then I got street maps printed of the area in case I need to navigate away from the busiest roads. I think I am going to leave early enough that it might not be a problem, but I don't know.
