The spirit of the Haitian people has been nothing short of remarkable in the aftermath of this disaster. And so far the American and world relief efforts have been timely and spot on in alleviating the effects of food and water shortages in the wake of the calamity. But as the article points out, the scale of this event has yet to be taken fully into account, and I think there could still be consequences down the road that will test both the international relief effort and the Haitian people. The situation could be ripe for social and political upheaval. Hate to be a doomsayer, but it I think its a distinct possibility.
