it would great to see Haiti rebuild using building codes on par with California, Japan, Chile etc, but the weak political structure in place,along with  almost non existent monetary strength,will more than likely result in only modest improvement, if that much. It would take massive resources from nations led by the U.S. to make this a reality.i'm afraid reality will show that Haiti rebuilds using more substandard homes although i do think there will be improvements to gov't structures and schools.There is overwhelming support from the locals to become a territory or common wealth of the U.S. i suspect. have heard ,many locals interviewed who have stated there is no Haitian government down there now and a weak one at best before the quake.........
