Wait... I thought Long Valley was extinct, because it was fed by what is now the yellowstone hotspot, which is much further east.... whats feeding this caldera?
And another thought, Basalt eruptions are the worst when it comes from a super volcano. See the Siberian traps, and the Decan Traps. Both played a role one was the main reason behind two massive extensions, and both where basalt in nature. |
