Thank You Chris for that informative and timely article. I think the key is movement. Not so much that we are all the way out of an El Nino, but in the process of moving out of one, that tends to favor a big pick up in seasonal activity. Interesting stat too about off season SST's being so much warmer than average. I wonder if the prolonged spate of warm SST's leading into the actual hurricane season would tend to cause greater heating at lower depths in the tropical oceans leading to a greater energy source for hurricane formation.
