Track wise, 7 day forecasts would probably not be that bad, though I'm not sure how the public would feel about a giant cone. (A fast moving storm could have a cone stretched over a good chunk of the basin.) Personally, I don't think they are that necessary. Too much can change in that amount of time. But the intensity would be a big problem. 7 days out is a long time. I remember reading the Q&A from Chris Landsea this month from the new "Q & A for NHC" series. I think even when they are finally ready to do it, I'm not sure they will. That might be a little too much info for the public anytime soon. Maybe they could go a little further out on the tropical weather outlook though since that is not quite as public (though a lot of media does run with any chance of anything), but as these fun invests show, things can change even over two days.

I had heard about Olivia, how they kind of overlooked the highest wind speed data for a long time. It kind of stung Mount Washington a bit.
