Sat pic shows trough beginning to erode High over Central US

You can see the high pulling easward some with the trough in the far top left of the pic beginning to dig south and east. Its got a long way to go. But this was the original reasoning given for a north turn by Alex. How far will this late June trough dig down, and how steep (tilted vertically) will it be. Will this trough verify some of the original model runs (and some of the earlier thinking by a few of us here on this board) that Alex would turn north and make some kind of strike along the northern Gulf Coast? Perhaps the upper Texas coast is not out of the question after all.
