The storm was just coming together at landfall.Pressure continued to drop in the hours after landfall.

Also, the large size of the system---actually pulling energy from two oceans. One of the sources quoted on this board compared the system to a typhoon wannabe.

Very flat---humid area across that part of the lower Yucatan.

No easy answers---much left to understand.
