With all due respect, Tiny, and without meaning to sound insensitive to anyone who's lost a loved one in a plane crash -- each aviation accident typically affects a relatively small number of people (and usually no wildlife, except maybe a few birds sucked into aircraft engines -- and certainly not entire ecosystems).  This episode, besides the immediate tragic deaths, has negatively impacted literally hundreds of thousands of lives, both human and animal.

That's not even to mention the fact that the cost in dollars remains thus far incalculable.

I think the big problem is not with the 50,000 wells -- it's with the finite number of wells at substantial depth -- the ones that defy the 'normal' blowout fixes simply by virtue of their inaccessibility (and the obvious limitations of technology to date).
