from the old board

a few years back, I remember a thread from Gianmarc that asked what everyone thought the worst place for a landfall would be - with some exceptions, the majority thought was "somewhere near where I live" - insert major city name near you, unless you're land-locked ;)

so I'm reading boards (several, not just this one) yesterday, today & see that same general kind of thought process - our local Houston board has been sure it's a TX storm for some time now, N Gulf coast sees it going through the spill or panhandle or Morgan City & west LA, FL ppl are thinking their cities, etc... of course everyone shows some kind of good reasoning, the ridge is too strong, weak storms are harder to predict, xyz is going to change in a couple days, etc, etc....  I'm not saying all, but some

so at 6:20 am GMT, Masters updated his blog post: http://www.wunderground.com/blog/NCHurricane2009/comment.html?entrynum=15  "This is the wee morning hours of July 21, and this is an update from my blog post on July 20 afternoon (call me a downcaster, Invest 97L May Not Develop At All)."

meanwhile, NHC increased the red circle odds to 70%

read these when I got up today & had to smile - so I guess the message is "it's a crap shoot" - keep reading the boards & watching your fav updates - stay tuned to NHC & your local NWS
