I wouldn't be too hard on anyone,
With the TUTT being so close, this is arguably the most challenging forecasts one can make,
Going by general rules of thumb, this should not have spinned up.
Really need to understand parcel theory to anticipate what this would do.
The key was yesterday when the air over Hispaniola heated up due to solar heating, destabilized the air, and then fired some deep enough convection to heat up the core.
