Earl continues to Intensify and threaten the northern Islands...

The cyclone has continued to become more symmetrical during the morning, as any shear from Danielle is lessoning by the hour. Outflow is well established in all quads, but fair across the northern semi- circle. However, even here its improving. The center is well embedded in deep convection and latest mircowave images shows stronger banding around the center. In addition, radar images show a well defined center with a solid shield of rain rotating ESE of Antigua.

Earl is moving just north of due west @ 17mph, this motion should continue today as the core passes across the northern islands with winds of 100 mph or high. Thereafter, a more WNW motion will occur as the cyclone will be near the end of the central atlantic ridge. This will take the center just NE of PR during the day Tuesday with the southern portion of the core over extreme NE PR. By this time he will be a major cane and likely expanding wind field will atleast produce hurricane force gusts across the northern coast of PR.

Thereafter, a narrow ridge will hold Earl on a WNW track or 280-90 degs. The track appears to become more poleward as a large mid level high parks near the east coast and blocks the storms westward motion as a mid level trough deeps and opens the door for a due north track. As was the case with Danielle, the eastern ridge builds under Earl and this combined with the trough takes the storm N- NE between Hatteras and Bermuda.
