Re: CMC shows stronger ridge allowing Igor to move further west

Here we go again. Another 7 days'-worth of people blindly clamoring against the NHC's forecast track taking another hurricane out to sea. Igor is a clear fish and the forecast track will absolutely verify IMO. We're now nearing the statistical peak of the season and we are still yet to see any pronounced ridging in the central or west Atlantic. With what seems to be a rather active trough pattern in the lower 48, it does not appear that we will ever see the kind of ridging this season that you need to send these storms anywhere other than between the uprights of Bermuda and the east coast--or even farther right. This year's pattern is quite a far cry from the stubborn and intractable ridging we saw across the basin in 2004 when two 'canes were shoved into Florida within just a couple of weeks.

This year, by contract, we've seen troughs eat away at ridges over the Atlantic storm after storm, with Danielle, Earl, Fiona, and now Igor and TD 12. Not gonna happen this year with such weak ridges out over the Atlantic.
