Recently :

Southern florida has escaped without damage but a widespread 3-6" has occured in the far southeast locations including Miami where 5.83" fell ... a few areas picked up on heavier bands including Plantation , Key which picked up an incredible 9"+. Niocle only lasted as a tropical storm for 6 hours but has been battering the eastern US since yesterday. As I've said in my previous posts and videos , this would be a historic event for many especially for NC. This has most certainly come to fruition and radar echoes are picking up a solid 10-15" across much of the OBX area and Wilmington , NC has picked up 20" in the last few days. The low pressure center moved directly into NC coast as forecast and has been bringing gusty squalls up and down the east coast through the day today. To the east of the center , severe weather has been triggered and a tornado watch was issued due to the possibility of rotating supercells.

Latest forecast/analysis

Radar imagery above shows the first batch of heavy rain moving north through the northern appalachians and giving the areas through NY and PA their first rain. The purely tropical precip causing the historic flooding is still lagging to the south across eastern NC and will move north through the evening hours. And additional 1-3" is likely for spots like Wilmington and the OBX area. Forecast amounts of 6-9" will also come to fruition during the evening hours as the main storm center of extropical and un - named Nicole , off the coast of the mid atlantic. Heavy rain squalls and gusty winds will impact most of the east coast within approx 50 miles of the ocean including much of southern New England. Whenever talking about a nor'easter or tropical system winds are always an impact to some degree and this storm is no exception. So far , no real strong winds have been reported other than the strong winds inside of the t-storms in the tornado watch area which has been shrinking BTW. This will change when the core of the storm passes - for an explanation of what the core will look like while it strikes tonight refer to the WRF Model below.
