His Twitter posts over the last few months showed major signs of "burn out"; and after 30+ years with the same company...who the heck can blame him.
Many of his posts, particularly those on climate, seemed not worth the effort (he seemed to be posting at times simply for the sake of posting; with little serious interest.) And he spoke often about his personal life in a way that was becoming melancholy. I think he just reached the point where a change in life was needed.
For years I've loved his enthusiasm but to be honest, there's little else i like about him. He's clearly a narcissist and I can live with that; but I think bodybuilding is just plain weird. He's religious; so I question his critical thinking ability (his rock-hard convictions about climate add to that suspicion.)
I imagine he's probably a great guy overall...but not my kind of guy. I could sit next to him in a bar, talk about weather, and have drinks...but I wouldn't want to be in his social circle.
He's an odd character...but then, so are most of us.
