The 7.2 was a foreshock. At the time of course it was thought to be the main quake. Only after the 8.9 do we know that the 7.2 was a foreshock. Maybe one day we'll hopefully know more about how to predict when an earthquake could be leading to a greater earthquake.
Still a lot of uncertainty about those nuclear plants. There is white smoke, or something like it, coming from the plant (you can see that on the live pictures), but aside from that I wouldn't really trust any of the other reports too much yet. CNN is live tonight though and covering it but there is only speculation at this point I think. |
