Amidst the mass hysteria flooding this and other boards, the internet in general, and television, let me thank you for pointing out the folks who are in the most danger with these reactors (and I haven't heard a word about them on TV.)

With radiation it's wise to play it safe - and the Japanese are doing just that -  but my god, for anyone in the U.S. to worry about radiation is utterly insane. Compared to the massive megatonnage of hydrogen bombs detonated by the U.S., France and the Soviet Union years ago - this doesn't even register on the reality scale. (It registers well on the media hype scale though.)

And unlike Chernobyl where they couldn't control the nuclear reaction, these plants shut down the moment the quake struck. It's apples and oranges.

Well, it's not over; we don't know how much radiation will ultimately escape; but Japan has much worse problems to deal with...including massive damage to an already suffering economy.
