Well it was like this:

(Hard to explain, bare with me)

You had west-northwesterly flow, and then east-northeasterly flow and they converged. Fine, we see that all the time. Behind the "westerly' flow there was some type of anomaly that was distincitvly visible on IR and VIS but not watervapor. I mean, our entire class was dumbfounded. Our professor is one of the most prominent researchers in the country and he had no idea what that was. Dumbfounded. It almost looked like a frontal boundray, but none existed. It was as if whatever it was, was acting to supress convection. Very odd. It was large as well.

If you know where to find archived sat data like that you could take a look for yourself. I dont' knoow where it is, but if you do, let me know because I'd like to have that linked in my favorites fro the future.
