6.0 earthquake strikes Babuyan Islands region of the Philippines

A 6.0 earthquake struck the Babuyan Islands of the Philippines at a depth of about 36.6 kilometers.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7100 islands.

Most of these islands are of volcanic origin.

There are 37 volcanoes in the Philippines, of which 18 are still active volcanoes.

The 6.0 earthquake erupted off the coast of Laoag.

The tension around Japan and in the Pacific Ring of Fire continues.
