Trouble is if it is shallow.
The structural engineers that surveyed the 6.3 at Christchurch said that no modern city that was built to current earthquake standards would be able to withstand the quake at Christchurch.
They marvelled at the structural damage they saw; one downtown accelerometer measured 2.2 g's.
IMHO, a 7+ shallow downtown Tokyo quake would destroy the city.
After that, nuclear rain.
Still thinking about moving there?
