Thai-Myanmar border quake death toll rises to 70

More than 70 people have been killed and around 90 injured as a result of a strong earthquake that shook Myanmar on its border with Thailand. The quake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale was felt as far away as 800 kilometers from the epicenter, and tremors were registered in Bangkok. More than 240 buildings have reportedly collapsed. Six large aftershocks have been registered by Thai meteorologists. The quake was also felt in Vietnam and China.
