Exactly, then you would have seen far more isolated celluar activity rather than Qausi-Linear Convective Systems.Upper air soundings indicate that through out much of the effected region have more speed shear than directional thus inhibiting celluar activity. The trough was elongated and barely titled either postively or negatively and thus this produced an incredible line of storms. Let's not forget we had summertime temperatures through much of the south right before this occurred.

Despite what your reading on canetalk.com; there were no prominent gravity waves, or some group of what have you standing in a control room playing with the weather like my Sim Micheal Wiley in my Sims 2 game did. It was simply the synoptic set up. I have come to question some folks on here and it breaks my heart to do so because I have long came to this forum as a source of valid scientific experiences and I loved it for that, and the people and still do; but I feel as though canetalk.com is becoming more and more like abovetopsecret.com.

I want to elaborate that as a scientist in training, I understand there are possibiliites that may exist in any science that don't make physical sense right now, but the dosage of attributing each bad weather scenario is getting out of control on this forum. Case in point, I'm waiting for the day when a cloud is blamed on some conspiarcy thing. If it's not the sun, it's something else.

I asked 4 different PHD students today about the gravity waves posted and was going to include them in my map discussion at school today and like myself, none of us saw signatures of gravity waves in any high resolution visible data sets available at school.

I'm trying NOT to stir up arguements or what have you. I merely wish to indicate that some of you (a number of you) have taken this too far since Japan's disaster to the point where I don't konw what to believe anymore. I knew how to interpret a phase space for cyclones before I could compute a derviative. I knew what to look for in cyclogensis before I knew what defined convection. I knew how to forecast where a TC would go and how it may fluncate in intensity before I could understand how severe thunderstroms develop.... my point is that I have learned SO much from so many of you and it's disheartening to see so much utter crapola on the board.... and it really sucks.

I long for hurricane season just so we can get back to normal here. It was horrifying today when a PHD student rolled his eyes at the mention of canetalk.... he heard it *used* to be a great forum for tropical discussions.

Food for thought.
