Twin 6.0+ magnitude earthquakes slam Japan

Twin 6 magnitude quakes have struck off the east coast of  and in eastern Japan on the one month anniversary of the March 11, 9.0 magnitude quake.

This region is extremely dangerous and continues to exhibit signs of instability.

The 6.6 quake, which was downgraded from a 7.1 struck at a depth of 10 km and the 6.2 quake struck some fifteen hours later at a depth of 13.1 km.

According to Stuff, "A magnitude 5.1 earthquake was also felt across the lower North Island of New Zealand at about 12.30pm today.

The shake was large enough to rock pot plants hanging from verandahs in central Hastings, and office workers in Wellington felt minor tremors.

Geonet reported that the quake was magnitude 5.1 at a depth of 30km, and was centered 20km east of Porangahau.

Signs and windows also shook.

The shaking lasted about 20-30 seconds."
