The Las Conchas Fire is now estimated to be 92,735 acres and a 1/2 of a mile from the closest home.

No structures have been lost in Los Alamos or at the lab, but 13 homes and three businesses were burned before the fire spread to Los Alamos County.

Evacuations remain in place for Los Alamos residents.

"We talked about repopulating the community, looking for Friday or Saturday, that's not going to happen," Los Alamos Fire Chief Doug Tucker said. "This fire is too active."

Burn scars from 2000 Cerro Grande Fire are burning, which is an unusual fire event.

Operations Section Chief for the Southwest Area Incident Management Team Jerome McDonald said the fire grew Wednesday four miles to the north. The fire ran into the Santa Clara Canyon Wednesday. Crews are working with the pueblo to stop the spread to the east of the canyon.

Forestry officials said the fire still has a great potential grow on Thursday
