Southeast Bahamas

A weak surface trough across eastern Cuba and into the atlantic for several hundred miles has been firing scattered convection. Those that know me, I look for 850mb vorticity and this area has even a 700mb vorticity co-located near the Turks and Caicos. A rather large convective burst occurred overnight with the usual diurnal pulse. Will watch for some decrease in the shear in the next few days as the trough moves through the bahamas and whether the 850-700mb vorticity remains moderate to strong, as this will serve as the firing point of convection.

With an upper trough in the gulf and a trough in the central atlantic, the ridge should build between these two features north across florida and the bahamas.  Low chance of development due to shear.
