Or due to IT'S TOO FREAKIN' EARLY?

I used to fall for this every year and try to convince myself that there was something abnormal about waves that look powerful over the continent as they approached the coast this early in the season, and I'd buy into the notion that it signaled an aggressive CV season to come. It never happens, and 99.9% of them fizzle over water in June/July, no matter how good they look as they  near the coast. What I've come to learn is that actually it is entirely normal for African waves to look powerful over land in June/July, just as it is entirely normal for them to vanish when they hit the water.

Too early to be watching the CVs.
