A strong tropical wave is located near 10N - 30W. Scattered convection is associated with cyclonic turning with a vorticity in the 850-700mb level. The upper air environment is marginal with SE shear 10-20kts. However, as the systems moved west the environment will gradually become more favorable.
This disturbance has formed from the african monsoon trough which has become quite active during the last few days. Although the wave axis is quite low in latitude which will slow spin, it should pull WNW in the coming days. Lastly, the SST are warm, deep layer moisture is spinning within the monsoon flow and shear will lesson. This has the potential to become our next TC. |
