Your not the only one Tim.

Haven't had rain here for nearly 4 weeks.  Grass is burning up.

The blistering heat wave sweeping east across the U.S. has killed at least 22 but utilities are urging customers to turn down their air conditioners to prevent a devastating stress on the nation's power grid.

Utilities in the Washington-Baltimore region are urging customers to conserve energy as a heat wave approaches and Americans continue to swelter in pressure cooker conditions.

Officials advise closing curtains and blinds to keep homes cooler and setting thermostats at 78 or higher if health conditions allow.

Pepco and Baltimore Gas & Electric say the region's power supply is expected to be enough to meet demand.

They also advise delaying the use of major appliances until temperatures begin to drop in the evening.

Forecasters say a heat wave affecting the central U.S. is heading east. It is expected to settle over most of the eastern half of the country through at least the weekend.

Hospitals in Wichita, Kansas have so far treated 25 heat-related illnesses, according to the Weather Service report. In Des Moines, Iowa, 16 people were hospitalised because of the heat.

In Minneapolis dozens of fans at recent Minnesota Twin games have been treated for heat issues, even though the club did take extra precautions such as providing free water stations and having first aid and guest service staff on hand to monitor crowds.
