For Love of Tropical Weather...

That's why I am here and why many of us are here. We love to track tropical systems. Given the right circumstances, we love to chase tropical systems.

It's fun, it's enlightening and interesting. It's a sort of passion which figures in the history of the area, the science of how they work with the quirky qualities of storms.

Please remember that while poo pooing waves with possibilities or areas far out at sea that you don't think deserve a name. This is not about a quest for the ONE storm of the season and all others pale in comparison, not to me anyway.

With all of the new models and ways of slicing and dicing a storm we get a bit blase and sometimes ho hum about hurricanes. If they are not in my backyard, I could care less is often the attitude.

Just remember we all don't work at the NHC using fake screen names like kowabungacane@hotmail.com or cat5hurricanedude@aol.com and we are not all emergency managers who only care about their part of the coastline, we are not all pranksters nor are we without a knowledge of how things work. Just because we don't understand, nor do we want to understand every graph are we to be left behind.

Some people just love to watch them spin.

Some people like to watch the models.

Some people studied meterorology in collge, but did not make it their life work.

Some people are terrified their home will be trashed as Andrew or Opal was an unexpected house guest.

Some people may grow up and become professional mets at the NWS or NHC or some other weather agency or heaven forbid may go into forecasting for money vs governmental work.

Just a simple request from me.... to please let people enjoy the process of tracking the storms this season.

Everyone has a different reason for being here, each of us deserve the same respect and deserve to enjoy tracking tropical weather.

Love you all, you know that but sometimes I wonder if the "joy" of tracking has gotten lost in the colors, percentages and graphic output and that there might be someone out there who wants to ask questions or post and feels like they don't know enough.

Ask... enjoy... and prepare if it looks like it's coming your way.

Here's to Don...wherever he forms, though I think he'll be forming from this wave.

As for me... you can track my thoughts at http://hurricaneharbor.blogspot.com/

Don't crucify me though if I "wishcast" a little because that's part of the joy of it all, loving each little wave out there a bit more than the last wave.
