Hello Chris, Maybe it's just me but I dont think this storm was worthy of this many without power. It is obvious that the electrical grid in the N.E is antiquated and needs a serious overhaul. This is what happens when you have no hurricanes hit over a long period of time the grid gets ignored or they just do upgrades as needed. Down here there is an ongoing effort to V cut the trees under or near powerlines to avoid the trees tangling in the lines. In the aftermath of Irene I was watching freds cam while he was driving around & did not see a single V cut tree. Tropical storm force winds should not knock that many trees over but when you let them grow out of control this is what happens. Power companies in N.E need to immediately address this problem even if it means raising the already high light bills which they should have been doing all along and get rid of the wooden poles.  I think residents up there need to be asking alot of questions rather than blaming this on a weak storm IMO.
