When was the last time a major hurricane "formed" in the Gulf?

And I'm talking "born" in the gulf....not like Katrina where they were already a storm when it entered the Gulf. When I think of major hurricanes in the Gulf, I think of storms that come from either the Caribbean or Atlantic. I've seen storms form in the Gulf before, but they usually stay unorganized.
What are some storms that were born in the Gulf and turned into powerful canes? |
