GFS predicts Alberto

The last few runs of the GFS, with marginal support from the Euro, have been somewhat consisent in predicting the formation of Alberto in the western caribbean. The medium to long-range solutions are predicting tropical storm formation in the Bay of Honduras on May 19th  with intial cyclogenesis in the southwestern caribbean on May 17th. The model strengthens Alberto to a  999mb tropical storm before landfall in central cuba and a track thru the Straits of Florida just east of Miami. The GFS has modest support from the Euro which depicts a 1008mb low north of Panama at the 240 hour mark. Given the GFS's record of phantom storms, this solution remains suspcct until I see consistent results in a closer time fram and more enthusiasm from the Euro. Both model can be found at Allen Huffman weather site....  www.raleighwx.americanwx.com
