Re: near hurricane strength 70mph

Technically, some of the flight level data indicates it would probably normally be at hurricane strength, but surface estimates of the wind from the SFMR instrument do not support it from what they most recently sampled. It is about 89mph 1 minute sustained at around 4,950 feet, but nothing at the surface that indicates anything more than 70 mph that they had a chance to sample before heading home. (Always possible they missed sampling the strongest surface winds on the way out.)
