Current Flood Warning re. Debby

I know someone who had their picture taken while standing in the river bed of the Santa Fe River before (how long I don't know).  Here is what it is like now.

...THE FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE FOLLOWING RIVERS IN FLORIDA...

 SANTA FE RIVER AT THREE RIVERS ESTATES AFFECTING COLUMBIA...
 GILCHRIST AND SUWANNEE COUNTIES
 SANTA FE RIVER AT HILDRETH ON U.S. 129 BRIDGE AFFECTING GILCHRIST
 AND SUWANNEE COUNTIES
...THE FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE FOLLOWING RIVERS IN FLORIDA..
 SANTA FE RIVER AT FORT WHITE AFFECTING ALACHUA...BRADFORD...
 COLUMBIA...GILCHRIST...SUWANNEE AND UNION COUNTIES



TROPICAL STORM DEBBY BROUGHT OVER 20 INCHES OF RAIN TO NORTH FLORIDA
ON JUNE 25 THROUGH 27. RECORD FLOODING IS OCCURRING OVER MUCH OF
THE AREA...INCLUDING A LARGE PART OF THE SANTA FE RIVER BASIN. AS
FLOOD WATERS MAKE THEIR WAY TO THE RIVER...THE SANTA FE IS BEING
SLOWED BY A RISING SUWANNEE RIVER.

UPSTREAM AT FT WHITE THE RIVER IS FORECAST TO CREST THIS EVENING AT
32.3 FEET. THIS WOULD MAKE IT THE THIRD HIGHEST FLOOD ON  RECORD...
BELOW THE 32.98 FOOT FLOOD OF FEBRUARY 26, 1998.


CLOSER TO THE MOUTH OF THE RIVER...3 RIVERS ESTATES IS FORECAST TO
RISE AND REMAIN STEADY NEAR 23.3 FEET FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THIS HEIGHT
IS SIMILAR TO THE FLOOD OF APRIL 27, 1975 WHEN THE RIVER CRESTED AT
23.5 FEET.

AT THE HIGHWAY 129 BRIDGE THE RIVER IS FORECAST TO RISE TO 22.9 FEET
FOR SEVERAL DAYS...A LEVEL NEAR THE FLOOD OF APRIL 18, 1980 WHEN THE
RIVER WENT TO 23.0 FEET.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SAFETY MESSAGE...RESIDENTS AND THOSE WITH INTERESTS ALONG THE RIVER
SHOULD TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT THREATENED PROPERTY. HIGH AND FAST
FLOWING RIVERS ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR RECREATION OF ANY KIND. KEEP
CHILDREN AWAY FROM FLOODED AREAS. DO NOT DRIVE VEHICLES THROUGH
FLOODED AREAS. TURN AROUND...DON`T DROWN.

* AT 11:01 AM SATURDAY THE STAGE WAS 32.1 FEET.
* MAJOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING AND MAJOR FLOODING IS FORECAST.
* FLOOD STAGE IS 24.0 FEET.
* FORECAST...THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE RISING TO NEAR 32.3 FEET BY THIS
 EVENING THEN BEGIN FALLING.
* IMPACT...AT 30.0 FEET...MAJOR DAMAGE AND DISRUPTION TO THE COMMUNITY
 IS EXPECTED.  ROADS WILL BE CUT OFF AND MANY HOMES WILL BE
 SURROUNDED BY WATER.  BOAT WASH DAMAGE TO HOMES WILL BE SEVERE.

HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL RANGE FROM 108 TO 116 THROUGH THIS EVENING.
EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNINGS AND HEAT ADVISORIES REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL
7 PM.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...

HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES REACHING THE
MIDDLE 90S TO 102 WILL CONTINUE SUNDAY AND MONDAY. HEAT INDICES
WILL APPROACH 108 TO 115 DEGREES. AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH HAS BEEN
ISSUED FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST GEORGIA...AND HEAT ADVISORIES MAY
BE REQUIRED. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE EARLY IN THE
WEEK AND SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED LATE IN THE WEEK.
