Jim, I guess my curiosity is whether this storm can survive the real estate it may encounter, as opposed to the atmospheric environment.
It runs the real risk of South America disrupting it, but Hispaniola is also a problem. If it shoots the gap, in the classic track fashion, this could be one that will have your city list lit up like a Christmas tree.
In any case, when this system reaches past the island chain, it is never an "if" landfall, but "when" and that is when things turn interesting. We are roughly three days from that point of the Eastern Caribbean, at this point.
