I found it bizarre that pressure had risen and winds had fallen at the 5 a.m. advisory, given how impressive Ernesto seemed even then. Perhaps that was just another instance in which winds and pressure took time to catch up to Ernesto's intensifying organization.

Ernesto has grown quite large; that's a lot of storm for this thing to pull together. I think we've seen many large storms such as this one take longer to intensify than conditions suggest they should, and I am expecting Ernie to be one of those.

All conditions seem to point to the potential even for RI, but instead I think Ernie's going to take his time. And why not? It's awfully hot down there this time of year, the rum is damned good, and the women are gorgeous.
