They don't jump every time the models do, they move the track more slowly and look for consistency. The models have been bucking back and forth like a bronco. You have to consider some models didn't jump west. If the track changes too much to the west, some areas of Florida might stop paying as much attention even though they are among some of the first up for the weather. Plus, the storm has been north of where it should lately, and that has to be take into account. They can always adjust that final landfall point later on, as that is the furthest point away right now, even though they will ultimately get the worst of the storm. People are on alert. The NHC is going out of there way, even more so for this storm, to stress uncertainty too.

They are doing as good as they can on this particularly squirly storm.
