Conditions here in Ascension Parish so far are good.  TS force winds gusting and a moderate amount of rain thus far.  Downed trees are causing power outages in the area but we are still up at this time.  The Amite River in front of our home is flowing backwards at this time from surge in Lake Ponchartrain.  The storm surge will not flood us here but freshwater flooding in coming days is expected due to the heavy rainfall in the Amite River Basin which includes Baton Rouge and Southwest Mississippi.  TS Allison in 2001 put over 3 feet of water in my downstairs and I expect the same from Issac.  There has been an extreme amount of new construction in the Amite River basin.  It will be interesting to see how some of those areas fair and how flood patterns have changed due to brought in fill for new developments.  In fact if rainfall totals equal the projections inland flooding may be the big story on Issac.  If I keep power and internet I'll let you know how it fairs.

My cousin who live in Braithwaite lost their home again.  They had 8 feet in Katrina and have at least 8 feet again.  They are currently safe at a relatives home in Arabi where levees are currently holding.
My heart goes out to them.  We talked to them over the past few days and they didn't expect this kind of damage from only a Tropical Storm.
