Hurricane Sandy? Frankenstorm? Or, something else?

A local weather TV fellow here mentioned that they have decided to continue calling this storm tropical with tropical/hurricane type warnings throughout it's life cycle. The reasoning is that to switch from hurricane/tropical storm type wording and warnings to those associated with Nor'easters like Gale Force winds etc.. would only sure to confuse the public.

An example that they want to avoid is to have TS and Hurricane watches and warnings suddenly dropped in the height of the storm because it has transitioned.  They are worried that would indicate falsely that the storm was weakening when in fact it may be even deepening as a storm.

Has anyone else heard or seen anything like this in print?

I think that they have a good arguement there.
