Some lady in staten island was shown pleading with schumer that there were 90 year olds trapped in their houses who were gonna die if they didn't get help soon. They have no cars to get out. They are using massive generators for "media tents" for the marathon. Also I read they are diverting massive flatbeds used by the NYPD to transport people back to Manhattan to set up and move road blacks. How does Bloomberg not think about these things? It is his decision solely to continue the marathon. How do you have a damn marathon shutting down roads (needed for emergency transportation among other things) using police who are completely drained from nonstop work, taking hotel rooms from electrical workers who could help the city get up and running faster. I spoke with a police officer in the suburbs where I am now who told me he has slept 6 hours over the past 4 days. Bloomberg has angered me throughout this entire disaster,from when he downplayed the event before it happened (when us in the weather know knew he should have ordered evacs earlier and taken it more serious) to afterwards as he continues to not do everything he can to help people that are in dire need. I do not blame utility companies or FEMA or the red cross as they are obviously swamped....but Bloomberg and his "leadership" have cost many lives the start....and still are. I hope the national guard and red cross are getting out to the south shore as well, where the situation is getting more and more problematic by the day. Luckily I have prepared myself and my family and friends and we are ok, but there are many who have not preapred and need help. They need gas, electricity, and water as soon as possible or the death toll will do nothing but rise. |
