Be a Force of Nature during National Severe Weather Preparedness Week, March 3-9.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are working together to raise awareness and save lives during National Severe Weather Preparedness Week.

When it comes to the dangers of severe weather we ask that you:

   Know Your Risk
   Take Action
   Be an Example

As part of NOAA's campaign to build a Weather-Ready Nation, this week is about what you can do to take a stand against severe weather. It means taking appropriate actions before, during and after extreme weather by knowing your risk, having a plan, building an emergency preparedness kit and staying informed. It also means being connected to family, friends and neighbors and sharing your preparedness story. In the age of mobile technology and social media, this part has never been easier.

Together we can save lives and transform the way the United States responds to severe weather. Know your risk, take action and be an example during National Severe Weather Preparedness Week.

What you can do

Help spread the word about National Severe Weather Preparedness Week with an online toolkit. It contains tweets, a sample blog post, a presentation you can give and much more. Save lives by letting your friends and family know about the importance of preparing for the worst.

Pledge to prepare on ready.gov and get expert advice on what to do before, during and after severe weather. Make a family emergency plan in case disaster strikes.

Stay tuned for more great information from NOAA and FEMA all week long. Be a Force of Nature and help make this country more resilient in the face of severe weather.
