4/11/2013 SST Anomalies Most Like 2005?

2004 and 2007 anomalies look hotter in some spots, but the 2013 anomalies this time of year look most like 2005 when you include the area west of Panama, the high anomaly off the West Coast between Alaska and Hawaii, moderate anomalies in the GOM, high anomalies in the tropical North Atlantic, but with cool anomalies just off the East Coast:

IMHO, too much heat in the GOM, El Niño, or off the East Coast early in the season sends storms crashing into Central America to an early demise, or curving up in the Atlantic before they reach Caribbean hot spots. These anomaly profiles are an important metric to forecast storms, it matters....

So we should be ready for a busy season.
