Re: Karen downgraded to tropical depression on Sat. night; All tropical storm warnings discontin

I don't know, former Karen looks pretty good (floater) at the moment. (Compared to a few days ago when the upper part was going NE and the lower part was going NW. It's all going the same direction now!) It's heading due east towards north of my area. I would like some rain. My dad had to water the yard some for the first time since May on Saturday.

I think a lot of models get a bad grade on this one, although...

"TROPICAL STORM KAREN DISCUSSION NUMBER  10
NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL       AL122013
1000 AM CDT SAT OCT 05 2013

[...]

IT IS WORTH NOTING THAT THE ECMWF...WHICH HAS PERFORMED
QUITE WELL WITH KAREN...TAKES A WEAKER SYSTEM ALMOST DUE EASTWARD
AFTER 24 HOURS...AND THIS MOTION CANNOT BE RULED OUT IF THE CYCLONE
DECOUPLES AND IS STEERED BY THE LOW-LEVEL FLOW."

Now looking at the model error I calculate, which doesn't count the ECMWF, the models were not good. The best of the worst still did not do well, so I'm not sure how the European model fits in. It did do well with the eastward part.
