| Barrier islands and indeed all coastal landforms are ephemeral features. Beaches, dunes, bars, channels, bays and marshes are constantly being rearranged by natural forces. Mankind has failed, miserably, to grasp that simple concept. He has insisted on building and developing where he probably should not. And then is shocked and surprised when these (often very expensive) developments have been damaged, destroyed or washed away. So, with due respect, Fred, I believe those dunes have been temporarily replaced and not "repaired'. |
