I've heard some people who lived through both storms say that Katrina was worse than Camille. It would mean they probably did not go through the worst of Camille. Or perhaps they mean the scale seemed greater with Katrina. There would probably be some things left standing further from the coast. Anything near the coast would likely be destroyed by the water, if not the wind. There were some structures, including parking garages, that did not completely survive in some of the Gulf coast storms. (I can't recall if it was Ivan or Katrina) However, I do think it was, at least the ones I saw pictures of, the surge that did it. (Although, it may have been large barges that were actually responsible too that broke loose.) But those did not have category five winds. The picture you post would be an example of something that might actually survive a category five hurricane, or perhaps a resort of some sort, but sadly that particular building did not. (I would certainly think that buildings like that are better built now though, but you just can't definitely know which, if any, would survive intact enough.)

I was thinking of what I heard one storm chaser say about the white out conditions. You would probably not even be able to view anything during the strongest hurricanes. There may be near zero visibility. I had forgot about that.
