Nasty weather later today thru tomorrow, Long Island

Got some nasty weather heading this way later today into tomorrow.

Quote from locam Met Craig Allen

"
Just a technicality to start. By the book, this is not a nor'easter. An inland, northward track up the coast, with strong South winds does not fit the definition. But I give in and I digress. The impacts of the storm on our area will still be substantial no matter what you want to call it. Impacts include possible flash flooding from heavy bouts of rain on leaf-cluttered roads and storm drains. Winds may topple trees and power lines. Flights will be delayed or canceled which will cause havoc when major hubs are affected. Lets not forget that this will be a pure winter storm for parts of the Tenn & Ohio Valley into western PA, NY and western New England.

all coastal sections:  wind advisory. SE to S winds will increase to 20-30 mph with frequent gusts to 50, tonight into Wed.

For the whole region- spotty wintry mix possible this morning. Wind-driven rain (wintry start?) from late afternoon through the night. The rain will taper down to showers during Wed afternoon.
Temps will soar tonight into the 50's and could even reach 60 in spots tomorrow during the height of the storm. Not all parameters are there but good indicators of convection could lead to downpours and possible thunder.

As system passes and cold front swings through tomorrow evening, wind turns N/NW and the mercury plummets again. Layers cool rapidly enough so that any lingering precip could briefly change to snow or flurries before ending.

Thxg Day: It's going to be a last minute nail biter as to whether to fly the balloons. Threshold is over 23mph sustained and gusts to 34+. I can easily see those speeds and greater being reached as the parade begins. Too bad they can't swap football in the morning and the parade delayed til late day as the wind will start diminishing. Temps on Thursday, staying in the 30's. Rest of the holiday weekend is quiet though the sun may not shine too bright by late weekend."
