A lot of Florida will not see some of the extreme temperatures thankfully. For the Arctic blast a lot of the SE is going to get, much of Florida will not be too extreme. I see some of the Panhandle is going to get very cold, like mid teens and hardly above freezing for a high, but a lot of Florida will not be so out of the ordinary for low temperatures that we would expect to see a few times during a given winter season. (It may or may not actually hit 32 here at Tampa's official observing station. With this kind of cold blast, we're lucky it is not ten degrees colder than that.)

I look at some of the forecast temps in northern Alabama for example, with lows forecast to be around 3 and a high of 11. Around Atlanta, single digits as lows and not getting above freezing for a couple days.

As insanely cold as some places are getting, like International Falls, they are much more used to being prepared than way down into the deep south. A 55 below wind chill is bad, but this time of year it doesn't take long to get frostbite anyway, so people still know what to do even when it is not close to that. (stay the heck indoors!!!) But single digit wind chills in northern Florida, negative wind chills in mid Alabama and Georgia, that's scary. It's been awhile since it was that kind of cold and I hope people are prepared. (So many people use space heaters dangerously and a lot of people use them down in the south since that might be all the heating they have.)
